Puppy Power!
Please welcome with us our newest addition to the family! We just picked up our little Yorkie and shot this picture to remember his first day home. He's 2 months old and we are waiting for his personality to develop a bit before we name him, but if you have any suggestions, please leave a comment. I will post our choice in a month or so. Meanwhile, we're calling him "boo" or "Rosco" until we finalize something that sticks. Now I'm off to pick up a few other supplies for the little guy...he's a stud!

Back to the Basics: Attention Photographers
Without question, the wedding photography industry has been very good to me. From clients, to vendors to fellow photographers, the generosity of support is more than I could have ever asked for which is why I'm giving back to the industry in the best way I know how...education.
I would like to thank
Ed Reagan, Vice President of the
South Florida Camera Club, for kindly inviting me as guest speaker on Thursday April 3, 2008.
Join us for a great night of mixing it up with local photographers as we explore a topic I titled
"Back to the Basics", discussing the fundamentals of growing as a photographer and business entrepreneur in the wedding industry.
In addition, Thursday night will be the first public announcement of the long awaited client management software we have in development soon to be released.
Look forward to seeing you there. For location and times

Living With Purpose?
Sometimes we wake up in the morning scratching our heads and saying to ourselves somewhere inside, "hmmm, what's my life all about and what's my purpose today?" Personally, that day happens more often than not to me which is why I'm excited about leaving for Haiti on Monday, March 3rd to document the activities happening at Project Hope Orphanage which just might answer that question for some of us. Check out the video below to see more...
If you want to get involved in helping out, just check out their
website. As well, sometime later this year, I'll be releasing a method for contributions to go directly to those in need for multiple projects.
The Right Place at The Right Time
I'm so grateful for those who stop by my blog to see what's happening with Mike Meyer Photography. When I first created my blog, I saw it as a way to present my work, provide quick previews of photo sessions, and give a small glimpse into my life as I pursue my dreams. I genuinely desire to create a positive impact on others in one form or the other and hope that my photography & blog entries help with that goal. Making a difference in other's lives gives me a great sense of purpose so I hope you find something here that helps you through the day.
You know being in the right place at the right time isn't always by chance. As a photographer, you learn to anticipate the moment while looking for what may happen instead of capturing an event with random results. I "just happen" to catch the moment because I've trained myself to constantly be on the look out for it which ushers in the opportunity for me to capture it. It's amazing how this holds true in daily living as well. If you look for the opportunity to make your dreams a reality, you'll find more often than not, that the doors swing wide open for you to walk through them. This can come in the simplest form of ceasing the moment to encourage someone, coach someone in a common pursuit, or just by telling someone how much you appreciate them. In making this a part of you life you'll be amazed by how often you just seem to be in the right place at the right time.
I caught this great moment as Danny presented his groove for his new bride Veronica at their wedding reception.

Hidden Treasures
Just keeping it fresh with an image I found while organizing my files today...what treasures do you have laying around that need to be rediscovered (hobby, art work, photo, talent)? Go dig it up and start living again!
